Patient Info
Making Appointments
A Referral from your GP or another specialist is essential. We ask the referrals to be sent through before making an appointment
Length of Appointments
Your consultation will usually take about 1½ hours due to the complex testing that may be required.
Possible Delays
All effort will be made to be on time, but due to Dr Etheredge’s hospital commitments and extra very ill patients who have to be seen urgently, there may be delays.
We request that you phone the surgery an hour before your appointment time and our staff will be able to tell you if the Doctor is running to time.
Your understanding and patience is appreciated in these circumstances.
Rebooking and Cancelling Appointments
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please ring the surgery at the earliest opportunity to make alternative arrangements. Late cancellations may incur an administrative fee.
Preparation for Appointments
- Your completed Patient Questionnaire
- The referral from your GP or specialist
- Your Medicare Card
- Your Pension/Health Care Card
- Your Health Fund details
- Any xrays, ultrasounds or scans you have had recently
- Any blood test results
- A list of your medications and dosage (very important)
What to wear
You may require a stress test and the best type of clothing is something loose and comfortable eg. slacks/shorts, blouse/tee-shirt and comfortable shoes for walking.
Surgery Location
The surgery is situated on Crown Street approximately 1 kilometre west of Wollongong hospital on the opposite side of the road. We are in the same block as the Ambulance Station and approximately 100m further west. There is a gray coloured fence out the front and a sign above the building that says “Medical Specialists 479”.
Parking
Available directly outside surgery on Crown Street until 3pm weekdays (when it becomes a CLEARWAY) or in adjacent streets.
There is limited parking at the rear of the surgery reserved for patients who have an appointment after 1:00 pm and or have difficulty walking. The driveway is very narrow so caution is required.
Public Transport
There are bus stops on both sides of the road nearby.
Disability Access
Entry to the surgery is via a ramp, providing limited disability access. If you have special needs, please ring the surgery.
Billing
Payment of the full amount is expected at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, cheque, EFTPOS, or credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Amex). There is no extra charge for Veteran Affairs patients.
There is a fee for patients having BP monitoring (no Medicare item is available for this procedure). Please contact the surgery for more detailed fee information.
