Dr Etheredge graduated as Dux from Woonona High School. He studied Medicine at the University of NSW and graduated with First Class Honours.
After graduating Dr Etheredge worked as a Resident and Senior Resident Medical Officer at Royal North Shore Hospital and then as Registrar at Sydney Hospital.
He then was awarded a National Kidney Foundation scholarship. This took him to University of California, San Francisco General Hospital where he was employed as Clinical Fellow, working, lecturing and researching in the field of Hypertension.
Upon his return to Australia Dr Etheredge worked in private practice as a Consultant Physician in Sydney and then moved back to his home town of Wollongong and opened his own private practice as Consulting Physician, specialising in Vascular medicine.
Over the years Dr Etheredge has expanded his practice and now employs three Assistant Doctors, three Sonographers, three Registered Nurses, four Receptionist and a Bookkeeper. A Consulting Dietitian also visits the practice. The practice carries a high profile among referring GP’s and specialists.
Dr Etheredge is also very active in the regional medical community. Dr Etheredge enjoys admitting rights to Wollongong Private, Figtree Private, Shellharbour Private and Lawrence Hargrave hospitals where he is currently chairman.
Dr Etheredge is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Wollongong. This involves teaching and examining medical students. Dr Etheredge is also on the Interview Board selecting medical sturdents which will be accepted to UOW. He is also actively involved in medical research.
Dr Etheredge has two sons, one a Lawyer and the other a Registered Nurse in ED,and has a passion for many sports including surfing, skiing and kite surfing.
